Search Careers

⬢ Access careers.fastenal.com, where you will click on the magnifying glass in the center of the page. You may also click Search Jobs at the top of the page.

⬢ For a quick search, enter your zip/postal code with a radius option from the drop down and click Find Jobs. You may also click on advanced search to enter more criteria in order to narrow down your results.

⬢ View the search results and click on the Title that you’d like to learn more about.

⬢ If the location that you are interested in is not listed on our website, you could check back at a later date or subscribe to our Career Alert emails.


Apply Online

⬢ If you believe you may be a good match for the position and would like to submit an application, click the Apply Now button.

⬢ Enter your email address and click on the E-mail My Application Link button, in order to receive your custom application URL.

⬢ Check your email for a message from a donotreply@fastenal.com email address, and then click on the link to begin the application.

⬢ The last step of the application will ask you to review all of the information you provided on prior steps. Review this closely and make edits if necessary, read the Applicant Statement, and finally click to submit your application for consideration.


Application Screening

⬢ All employment applications are reviewed by our Human Resources team at our headquarters in Winona, MN to determine if the qualifications and information provided on your application match the position requirements.

⬢ This step may take up to or around two weeks. When the next step with your application has been determined, you will be contacted by the Human Resources team by phone (1-877-327-8362) or email (Do_Not_Reply@fastenal.com). The Human Resources team will leave a voicemail whenever possible.

Phone Screening (External Applicants)

⬢ After your employment application has been reviewed, and there is further interest, you will be invited to complete a required phone interview.

⬢ When invited, you may call to complete the short phone interview during our business hours (M-F between 8am-5pm CST) throughout the duration of the job posting or within two business days after the job posting end date has passed.

⬢ After the phone interview is completed, there is no set timeline as to when the next decision will be made, however, you will be contacted by phone or email to let you know your next step.


Interview

⬢ If there is further interest, you will be contacted by a representative to coordinate an in-person interview.

⬢ Up to two in-person interviews may be conducted, and for some positions, a job observation may also take place.

⬢ After the in-person interview(s) are completed, there is no set timeline as to when the next decision will be made, however, you will be contacted by phone or email to inform you whether or not you will be offered the position.

⬢ If you are offered a position, the offer is contingent upon your ability to pass the pre-employment screening(s), as outlined in the job posting you applied to.

  • How soon will I be contacted after I apply/When can I expect to know my next step?

We do not follow a particular timeline when it comes to the hiring process, however, please know that you will be contacted either way, by phone or email, when we have determined the next steps in the process with your application.

  • Will I be notified if I am not offered a position?

Yes, you will be contacted by the human resources department by email to inform you that you were not selected for the position.

  • Will you sponsor my VISA?

Unfortunately, Fastenal does not provide sponsorship for employment.  To be considered for an employment opportunity with Fastenal, you must have the legal right to work where the job is located without a visa sponsorship requirement, and apply on our website.

  • How can I request an accommodation during the application, screening, or interview process?

  • How is the pay determined?

Pay is determined by the location of the position and your past experience. It is typically discussed later on in the interviewing process or at the time of the offer.

  • Can I change something on my application materials or resume?

Applications cannot be edited once submitted. The final step of the application prompts you to review the information to ensure it is true, accurate, and complete.

  • What should I do if I experience technical issues while completing my application?

You may also want to try using a different web browser such as Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.   • How can I be notified when a job opening becomes available where I am searching?

To be notified of job openings based on your search criteria, click “subscribe” after you have made a search. This will prompt you to enter an email address and two options of “Get job notifications for this search criteria” and “Join our Blue Team Careers Network.”

  • Do you offer internships?

Yes. Learn more about our structured internship plans on our Students page. Fastenal is unique because we typically do not employ students for only short-term/12-week internships. If hired, you would be working in a paid part-time position where you may be able to receive internship credit with your school's approval.

  • How can I apply for multiple position openings and/or locations?

Each employment application is only considered active for the specific posting for which you have applied. If you want to be considered for any other position opening, you must fill out another application.

  • Do you offer flexible scheduling?

Yes. We do our best to align the hours you are available with the hours that meets the needs of the position and/or department. We do not offer remote working positions. 

  • How can I meet with a representative for a school project or assignment?
